What is Invisalign®?
It is the invisible way to straighten your teeth without requiring metal braces. Invisalign® is a new and innovative method which uses a series of invisible aligners, removable and made to measure (see images) to straighten your teeth without wires or metal apparatus.
What advantages it have?
The main advantage provided by this system is in aesthetics. The aligners are not only transparent, but they are also removable, which means that you can eat or drink whatever you want during the treatment, thereby gaining on comfort. Another of the advantages of this system is that less time is required for check-up appointments, achieving more spaced-out appointments and even knowing the exact duration of the treatment.
Invisalign is one more technique used by the orthodontist, it is not a treatment. The aligners simply apply the information to the teeth for their movement instead of the traditional metal apparatus (braces). The biomechanical principles remain the same.
The treatment consists in a series of aligners which are prepared by computer using latest generation tri-dimensional image technology of proven effectiveness. Each aligner exercises movement on the teeth and therefore they will be changed approximately every 2 weeks until achieving total correction.
For who is Invisalign® indicated?
This system has some limitations and therefore not everyone may make use of it.
On certain occasions a treatment may be employed in combination with aesthetic braces or lingual orthodontics.

Aesthetic Orthodontics
Aesthetic or metal braces?
Now you decide. Advances in the field of orthodontic materials and techniques facilitate more aesthetic treatments. So, for example, there are now white braces and wires.
Each person has different colour teeth. The ceramic Clarity ™ braces are translucent and they blend with the colour of the teeth, which means they do not draw attention.
With aesthetic braces you will achieve the same orthodontic treatment as with metallic braces, as they combine the aesthetics of porcelain or other materials such as sapphire with the metal slots to copy traditional braces.
Aesthetic braces are a clear alternative to metal braces. An attractive translucent appearance and a comfortable design will give you the confidence to smile. You will feel better; your teeth will shine but not your braces. Everyone will see your smile, but not your braces.
As aesthetics are subjective, we can personalise your treatment, such as for example the combination of white braces and wires, gold braces, coloured ligatures or braces for youngsters, etc.

Low Friction and Self-Ligating Systems
Why low friction?
Dental movement is produced when the bracket joined to the tooth slides along the wire, producing friction between both and, at the same time, opposing this movement.

As well as the friction between the bracket and the wire, for both to remain united and in contact, it is necessary to use some additional elements called ligatures, increasing friction.
Friction is a determining factor in dental movement as it increases the strength required for the alignment of the teeth, making the dental movement slower.
There are various factors which can reduce friction and therefore produce a more physiological and effective movement, such as the material and the design of the bracket or the properties of the wire.
Due to this, with the use of innovative techniques in orthodontics, such as the use of self-ligating low friction brackets, treatment times can be significantly shortened meaning less time in the dentist’s chair and less visits to the clinic throughout the duration of the treatment.
